It could just be my memory failing me, but I recall a much earlier version (early 2010s) of the original 1548 where the juvenile tone of speaking was how it talked, and the more ominous tone was added in a later rewrite. Some of these lines feel particularly memorable to me in particular, especially "Stellar control achieved baby/I'm going to cook that little shitball you call a planet/Say goodbye to your ecosystem you fucking abortion of a species" and its rant about the Director.

Regardless, glad to see this one being preserved and improved. It was a classic that I was very fond of as a similarly juvenile teenager, and it's one that comes to mind when I remember trawling through SCPs around that time too. Great stuff!

I like personality changes you made to the star itself.
In the SCP article, it was some big, menacing, and serious star that spoke in Russian.
In here, it's an edgy teenager.

I honestly can't decide if I like the RPC mirror on this article more than the SCP article was… but it still has the essence Von imprints on his articles. I liked it, but I can't choose which of the two is better.

I have to agree that the star's personal insults and angry channer thing detract from the article, the SCP version really felt like something filled with unknowable amounts of hatred for humanity, a conciousness that awakened and immediately began filling with so much fury for us as a collective species that it began an interstellar treck to destroy us for reasons we'll never understand.

This version feels a lot more like it just hates every single human on a personal level, like it knows all of us and just personally dislikes us while talking like they're angrily tweeting at a celebrity or something, which is a different sort of horror but one that I think is just less effective

I like both versions. The original SCP-1548 was dark and foreboding, and that's why I liked it. This one is pretty nice, and the insults from RPC-548 are pretty funny. +4

While I still do enjoy the previous version that was deleted from the SCP Foundation wiki, this one has much more of a personality.

The original one's "hate-kill humanity" was, in retrospect, a lot like a certain Hard-To-Destroy-Reptile dubbed SCP-682.

With its new, more juvenile, petty, and personal bully-like attitude, I say that the new Hateful Star reminds me of Bill Cipher from Gravity Falls.

The old SCP-1548 was not so "exaggerated in cursing and much less juvenile", his messages were more intimidating, that old image was incredible. RPC-548 may even have more quality than SCP-1548 in formatting and writing, but SCP-1548 has something special that I just cannot explain.

While it is funny to think of a star hurling insults like this, I preferred the SCP version a bit more. It was more ominous how it seemed to learn or react when people accidentally looked at it. The fear was more of a 'what in god's name can we do about this?' even though it would take 5000 years to get to earth and kill everyone. Meanwhile in this version the juvenile name calling made me think the star was being controlled by some frat boy after too much jack Daniels. If it was any more over the top it should qualify as a joke RPC.

I'm not voting up or down. It's fine as is I guess, but it just doesn't wow me.

I kinda miss the old things it said, but I think whether its ominous messages or foul-mouthed insults are better are up to personal preferences. I like this version in its own ways, too. +1

However, I DO think that the previous low-res black/white image gave it a much better atmosphere. It made the article feel a lot more real and ominous, but this high-res colored artist's rendition just doesn't do it.

The first one never really struck a chord with me, but this felt like it had a lot more soul put into it. I like the more personal insults too, rather than the vague ranting you had before.

An excellent article, I especially love how it digs up your previous mistakes and yells at you for them. Maybe that's just because I have some skeletons in my closet but that really hit home.

Man, I always loved The Hateful Star, and just wondered whether or not it was gonna come over here, after hearing that you had deleted it from the SCP site. Glad you did m8, and I think you made it even better now.

Seems we won't need to worry about a shortage of good pieces for a while, given the already great content on here.

I wrote SCP-1548 in considerable haste, basically coldposted it, and was never super satisfied with it. Aaaand then it became my most popular article on the site, and I was never gutsy enough to change it. This article represents what, in retrospective, 1548 should have been.
