Registered Phenomena Code: 989
Object Class: Beta-Yellow
Hazard Types: Organic Hazard, Toxic-Hazard, Memory Alteration Hazard
Containment Protocols: RPC-989 is to be contained at Site-029 within an airtight, reinforced steel cell measuring 6 m x 6 m x 6 m. Due to the perpetual risk of RPC-989's airborne toxins, the designated cell must undergo mandatory weekly inspections to ensure the absence of cracks or wear along concrete and steel material. Should any breaks be found, site 29 is to be placed on immediate lockdown until RPC-989 is transported into a backup cell. Hazmat protective gear, including breathing masks and goggles, is mandatory for all staff assigned to Site-029. A series of 24-hour surveillance feeds are to be installed within RPC-989's cell and security staff is to report any discrepancies in RPC-989's behavior to ██████. As of ██/██/20██, all tests involving the usage of RPC-989's blood are hereby suspended until further notice.
Description: RPC-989 is a humanoid specimen standing at 2.5 meters in height. Subject shows signs of severe emaciation with visible symptoms of muscular dystrophy present. RPC-989 lacks any discernible facial features, with the majority of its face being comprised of several layers of wrinkled flesh. Visible sections of the subject's skin are devoid of pigmentation, with metallic scale-like growths covering the entirety of the subject's limbs. A pair of chitinous stumps, measuring 1 meter in length each, are located at each side of RPC-989's shoulder blades. Protrusions are reminiscent of avian appendages though they appear to have been surgically amputated by unknown means. Due to the fact that the subject is able to move these protrusions through vestigial muscles on its backside, it is theorized that RPC-989 was once capable of flight.
RPC-989 does not react to any form of physical stimulation and further cognitive analysis has revealed that the subject remains in an indefinite vegetative state. Despite its inactive condition, RPC-989's body continues to function as expected though it does not appear to require sustenance. RPC-989's body also produces an airborne toxin which it releases through dermal pores in a manner reminiscent to sweat. The toxin has been shown to cause a variety of symptoms when inhaled repeatedly, including nausea, vomiting, memory loss, and ████. It is not yet known why the subject releases this miasma but it is theorized to be a defense mechanism.1
Despite the averse effects of RPC-989's airborne toxin, consequential analysis has found evidence that the specimen's blood, hereby referred to as RPC-989-2, can provide a myriad of beneficial effects on those with severe medical ailments. Please see Addendum 1 for a documented archive of tests involving RPC-989-2.
