You never know when Hitler may strike!

RPC-668 after initial containment.

Containment Protocols: RPC-668 is to be housed within a standard humanoid containment unit, with a CCTV camera focused on it at all times. In the event that the site in which RPC-668 is being held (OL-Site-745) becomes the target of an aerial attack, the key on RPC-668's back is to be turned counter-clockwise through four full rotations.

Description: RPC-668 is a mechanical humanoid entity measuring 1.87m in height and 83.9kg in weight. RPC-668 wears a hazardous chemical protection suit that was used by Military Intelligence Section XIII from 1932-1953. RPC-668's gas mask and helmet are both similar to those issued to British ARP Wardens1, and are in pristine condition. The number 2222 can be seen on the front of RPC-668's helmet; the significance of this is unknown.

A mechanical winding key is present on the back of RPC-668. Turning this key counter-clockwise will allow RPC-668 to become active for a period of time dependent on how much the key was turned. For every 180° the key on RPC-668's back is turned, RPC-668 will be active for one hour. Additionally, the following phrase is engraved on the edge of the winding key: "You never know when Hitler may strike! Be prepared with the Automated Warden by Smith's Clockwork Company."

When RPC-668 initially becomes active, structures designated as RPC-668-1 will manifest within 16km of RPC-668. Additionally, all electric lights within a 12km radius of RPC-668 that are rated above ██ watts will cease to produce light. Instead, all energy that would go to producing light in these bulbs will be converted into heat. Subjects within 16km of RPC-668 while it is active will report constantly hearing an air raid siren, the intensity of which remains constant regardless of the distance or material between the subject and RPC-668.

Instances of RPC-668-1 are structures that resemble the entrances to public air raid shelters used by the British during the Blitz. The interiors of RPC-668-1 instances are only accessible through the above ground entrances, as tunneling to where the interiors should be has always failed in finding the interiors. For all intensive purposes, RPC-668-1 act as effective public air raid shelters, with their interiors being consistent with British designs during the Blitz.

When active, RPC-668 will seemingly become innately aware of people who are in danger within 12km of itself, and will actively attempt to rescue individuals that it comes across, showing the ability to effectively perform first aid. When RPC-668 comes across an individual, it will attempt to direct the person towards the location of the nearest RPC-668-1 instance. Additionally, any aircraft within 16km of RPC-668 while it's active will be illuminated by large beams of light similar to those produced by spotlights used by the British during the Blitz. All attempts to find the sources of these beams of light have failed. It's currently unclear whether RPC-668 has control over this ability or not.

While RPC-668 is active, instances of RPC-668-2 will begin to manifest within a 12km radius of RPC-668. RPC-668-2 are entities with an appearance extremely similar to that of barrage balloons used by the British Balloon Command during the Blitz. RPC-668-2 are capable of flight, and usually remain at an altitude of approximately 1.5km. Steel cables with lengths ranging from 1.0km-2.0km are attached to the undersides of RPC-668-2 instances at various, seemingly random, points. RPC-668-2 instances are capable of freely moving these cables, but will normally let them hang limp. RPC-668-2 will normally wander around the area in which they manifest until RPC-668 exits its active state, after which they will de-manifest.

RPC-668-2 are extremely aggressive towards aircraft that they encounter, and will use the steel cables on their undersides to envelop and crush any aircraft they come across. After an aircraft is no longer capable of flight, RPC-668-2 will release their grip on the aircraft and resume their wandering behavior. RPC-668-2 are incapable of attacking aircraft with an altitude greater than their own. If the balloon of an RPC-668-2 instance is pierced, it will fall and impact the ground before de-manifesting.

When RPC-668 exits its active state, all RPC-668-1 instances will de-manifest with all of their human occupants being relocated to an unoccupied location within 300 meters of the entrance to the RPC-668-1 instance that they were within. However, objects not being worn or carried that are within RPC-668-1 instances will not be relocated when RPC-668 exits its active state. Where exactly these objects end up is currently unknown.

RPC-668 is capable of vocalization in the form of pre-recorded audio clips. These audio clips normally consist of either British propaganda used during the Blitz, or consist of directions which are used by RPC-668 to direct people towards RPC-668-1 instances. Because of the pre-recorded nature of RPC-668's vocalizations, it's unknown whether RPC-668 is capable of advanced thought or reasoning.

Addendum.1: Discovery

RPC-668 was first discovered by the Authority as part of the RAVAAF agreement when MI-13 disclosed details on anomalous assets they used during the Second World War following its conclusion in Europe. MI-13 records indicate that RPC-668 was used to protect towns that were at risk of being attacked by German bombing campaigns, but were simply too small to be worth setting up the permanent defenses that would be needed to properly defend them.

However, due to RPC-668's nature as a purely defensive anomaly applied for the purpose of protecting civilian assets, MI-13 was allowed to keep possession of RPC-668.

Addendum.2: Recovery

RPC-668 was recovered by Authority forces when it was discovered that British forces were using it during the Falklands War, as a response to what they assumed was the Argentinian Forces using anomalous assets. During this conflict, it was reported that RPC-668 was manually controlling the RPC-668-2 instances as offensive weapons against Argentinian forces. Additionally, it was reported that RPC-668 had the ability to summon autonomous QF 3.7-inch AA guns which it used against Argentinian infantry and aircraft. Subsequent experiments by the Authority involving RPC-668 have failed to show that it possesses these abilities.

The following are the writings of various Argentinian and British forces regarding their encounters with RPC-668 during the Falklands War.
