Containment Protocols: All 380 instances of RPC-411 are contained in Site-017's Mass Containment Wing, where a series of lightweight humanoid containment cells have been installed. Due to Site-017's remote location, all RPC-411 instances are given a 2 hour period where they are permitted to roam around a large plot of land outside of the facility twice a day. They are to be fed carbon-rich standard rations 2 times a day and have 2 operational water dispensers in their containment site at all times1, kept in a liquid state via heating. The internal temperature of the containment area is to remain at a steady temperature of −57 °C.

All 484 RPC-411-1 instances are contained in Site-017's Light Anomalous Technology Hangar. Their integrity is to be maintained whenever possible, and checkups are to be made on each unit every 2 weeks. RPC-411-2 is currently in the process of being excavated. Pieces of RPC-411-2, designated as RPC-411-2-A instances, are contained alongside RPC-411-1 instances in the Light Anomalous Technology Hangar.

Description:

RPC-411: RPC-411 denotes an anomalous species of sapient humanoid beings under the Lepidoptera order, resembling moths in their outward appearance. The species is covered in a thick layer of white fur which, despite its fragility, is able to keep each instance warm. RPC-411 instances generate an abnormal amount of body heat, able to combat Antarctica's natural freezing temperatures. As such, most instances are unable to survive in environments hotter than −2 °C.

Instances stand at an average height of 2 meters, and newborn instances measure only 16 cm in length. The arms are located close to the base of the head and can extend up to 1 meter in front of the body. RPC-411 instances are able to rotate their heads 170°, similar to that of species under the Strigiformes order. The species is incapable of flight, despite possessing wings, which measure 1 meter long on average. The wings are commonly used to assist RPC-411 instances in leaping great heights and distances.

Each RPC-411 instance has a muscular sac located near the back of the throat that produces a strong hydrochloric acid (designated RPC-411-A), of which an instance is capable of ejecting, or "spitting," from its mouth at a maximum recorded distance of 8 meters. The interior of RPC-411's throat, mouth, stomach, and lungs are coated with a type of anomalous, flexible chitin which is unable to be dissolved by RPC-411-A. Although RPC-411-A has been identified as a hydrochloric acid, it qualifies as a superacid, as the material has an overall acidity scale of 186%. RPC-411 instances are only capable of spitting RPC-411-A when in a period of acute mental and/or physical stress. Specimens use this as a means of defense, rarely using it as an offensive attack, as the sac produces RPC-411-A at a remarkably slow pace, taking an average of 1 day to fill completely. RPC-411-A superficially resembles water, but with a blueish tint.

RPC-411-1: RPC-411-1 refers to a collection of 5 mechanized diving suits, initially utilized by RPC-411 instances. RPC-411-1 instances are mainly cast of a baggy series of interconnected rings; each ring measures 12 nanometers in radius. These rings are composed of an unknown material with a hardness of 1878 on the Vickers scale. Each RPC-411-1 instance weighs approximately 12 pounds. This material is designated RPC-411-1-A.

Most RPC-411 instances are capable of fitting snugly within each RPC-411-1 instance. When an instance is inside of an RPC-411-1, the RPC-411-1-A will harden and fold into a more solid form, acting as a strong shell. A hood will automatically cover the RPC-411 instance's head and is able to rotate with it. 5 holes are carved on the front and sides of each RPC-411-1 instance's hood, which are decorated to resemble human eyes with irises colored various shades of green and cyan.

Humans are unable to enter RPC-411-1 instances, as the fitting mechanic only activates if an RPC-411 instance is wearing one.

RPC-411-2: RPC-411-2 is a massive mechanical vehicle originally operated by RPC-411 instances. RPC-411-2 is now in a state of disrepair (see Discovery), but its primary structure remains intact. RPC-411-2 is identical to a blimp in structure, surrounded by an outer shell composed of RPC-411-1-A held together by various steel arcs and beams. 12 multi-jointed arachnoid legs protrude from the bottom of RPC-411-2, which are made primarily of steel and lead beams. It is unknown how these legs were able to animate, as no internal mechanical structure has been discerned to date2. A wooden chamber is suspended off the bottom of RPC-411-2, intended to house the majority of RPC-411 instances.

After RPC-411-2's destruction, pieces of the object (designated RPC-411-2-A) have transfigured into miniature versions of the anomaly, and continue to traverse RPC-411-2's original route. When faced with an obstacle, RPC-411-2-A instances will climb or jump over it. When encased entirely within a closed container, instances cease all movement.

Discovery: All 380 RPC-411 instances were discovered on June 23, 2019, when a massive sheet of ice collapsed, leading to the discovery of AR-17. During the discoveries of RPC-917 and several other hostile lifeforms emerging from the ravine, RPC-411-2 was spotted 13 meters east of the abyss. All 5 RPC-411-1 devices were walking beside RPC-411-2, each being piloted by RPC-411 instances. The patrolling instances were holding long, silver spears coated with a dark, viscous substance that emitted smoke.

Before Authority forces were able to reach RPC-411-2, RPC-917 sprinted towards the object and rammed into its side, knocking it over and breaking it off one of its legs. The RPC-411-1 instances threw their spears at RPC-917; the black liquid coating the weapons seeped into RPC-917 and appeared to slow down the entity's movement. The remainder of the RPC-411 instances exited RPC-411-2 and began spitting at RPC-917 collectively. Both RPC-917 and the RPC-411 instances were subdued by ASF personnel3.

All specimens were originally hostile towards Authority operatives, but they began to cooperate when several instances were given medical attention. ASF Rapid Response Team ("Shamu") formed a circular formation around the horde of RPC-411 entities and were instructed to follow them back to Site-017. It was discovered that all instances were fluent in Armenian and an unknown language4 which has yet to be translated.

All instances were temporarily contained in Site-017's 2nd Mess Hall5 for a period of 2 weeks before their current containment site was renovated.
