Registered Phenomena Code: 309

Object Class: Beta-Orange

Hazard Types: Aggression, Auditory, Emotional, Organic

Containment Protocols: To date, 5 RPC-309 cadavers have been kept in preservation units within Provisional Site-181. ASF are on standby should instances be detected in the United States; instances have only been discovered in either Indiana or contiguous states.

Should footage of instances be posted on the internet, the Botetourt Protocol is to go into effect. Due to issues with tracking RPC-309's overall population, footage of instances may stay online, pending review. A disinformation campaign involving bots programmed to bombard select media and comments sections linked to the existence of RPC-309 is to be maintained.

Description: RPC-309 is a collection of vespine humanoids genetically similar to Vespula alascensis1 that measure 2m in length. Each member of the aggregate possess adaptations to complement their method of predation; as such, all are exceptional at hunting humans within mobile vehicles.

RPC-309 instances appear to closely resemble humans when observed from a distance. Though upon close examination, the following notable distinctions are observed:

  • Eyes are oval-shaped and red.
  • Insectoid mouthparts consist of maxillae and proboscis.
  • Diminutive wings situated on the shoulder-blades, with a wingspan of 25cm, recede into the skin.2
  • Forearms are folded with several additional joints.
  • Phalanges congeal and terminate at chitin tipped hooks.
  • Viscera and critical organs are absent.
  • Legs are mangled and terminate at clamp-like hexapods.
  • Brain is diagnosed with advanced lissencephaly3 and is entirely wrinkleless, save for an engorged frontal lobe.
  • Skin is opaque and grey in coloration.

RPC-309 instances fly at excess speeds of 25m/s, and are incapable of remaining stationary whilst airborne. When instances are unable to detect prey, they lie in wait to ambush individuals that enter their territory. Instances achieve this through the use of sensory organs which allow them to switch between a stalking phase and a pursuit phase. During the stalking phase, they fly in a slow and buoyant manner. Notably, instances seek cover behind objects and formations normally within proximity to highways. During the pursuit phase, they move in erratic aerial patterns: moving straightforward, then abruptly turning at 90-degree angles, before repeating the process.

It is unknown how members of RPC-309 maintain flight without the apparent usage of their wings or any form of aerial propulsion; no sightings of RPC-309 detail instances landing on surfaces or ground-level terrain.

RPC-309 instances' mouthparts perform specific functions. Their maxillary palps, located underneath their proboscis, are utilized to identify suitable targets. These flexible, pink, and taut organs move in the direction of mobile objects exuding ambient radio signals.

RPC-309 instances mainly use the proboscis as an evolutionary tool to aid in mimicry. It emits anomalous transmissions capable of intercepting an electronic radio receiver, at a range 10km away, and an estimated frequency of 20 kHz. At a close-range, instances produce vocalizations; a combination of static, singing, and buzzing is commonly heard.

Communications produced by RPC-309 instances consist of variable sounds. Research into how instances are capable of articulating music, human speech, and emergency broadcasts remain inconclusive. However, their behaviors are well-archived and remain consistent throughout each case. Instances exhibit a pattern of luring prey to isolated locations, preferring to influence a subject's travel routes masquerading as a voice GPS application.

A minor cognitohazardous influence infects those within listening distance of the broadcast. Payloads render subjects prone to suggestion, accompanied by emotions such as, but not limited to, unease, lucidity, and lethargy. In 56% of all scenarios, subjects allege that the voices direct them to significant destinations. It is unclear if RPC-309 instances are sentient or if their advanced mimicry makes them appear cognizant of the meaning of words.

Notably, the proboscis possesses buccinator muscles that are analogous to those found in human cheeks. In juxtaposition with hook-shaped teeth that outline the rim of the appendage, researchers have theorized that instances are were once capable of sucking and consuming organic materials. However, investigations of hunting-grounds thus far yield no prey cadavers; instances do not appear to need to consume for sustenance.

Vivisections performed on multiple instances reveal that the removal of said body part not only ceases their abilities but also inhibits brain and heart activity altogether.

POST DESCRIPTION: [REDACTED]. Subject (female) was recovered unharmed by embedded agents. Subject reported symptoms similar to a phantom pregnancy, and that this was the sole cause for their motor vehicle collision. Subject's vehicle was upturned 25m away from the highway; half of its front window was caved in with a bent utility pole. The side and rear windows were penetrated by the bodies of multiple RPC-309 instances. Inspections revealed that the instances had repeatedly slammed head-first into the vehicle before the crash.

Subject received proper amnesticization and was fed a cover-story on the disappearance of their child.

DISCOVERY:

In 1991/02/11, firefighters responded to a residential home set ablaze in Indianapolis, Indiana, which was reported by an anonymous source in a 911 call. After they had arrived and extinguished the fire, responders ruled the cause of the devastation to be intentional, as evidenced by a tampered pipeline. Most of the surface structure was irreparably destroyed.

Due to the presence of several anomalous entities that possessed fire-retardant properties (designated RPC-309 larvae), intercepts flagged the descriptions made by responding paramedics. Shortly thereafter, Authority agents arrived on the scene and seized the property under the cover of an insurance agency.

The home had belonged to PoI-309, Timothy Anders, a former automotive mechanic and dismantler. A brief background check cited that Mrs. Anders was deceased, and their only-child had severe mental and physical disabilities. In post investigations, agents failed to discover the bodies of the father and child.

Agents recovered notable items from the basement compartment beneath the household. Items were listed below:

  • 1 box containing children's toys and books.
  • Damaged mucus removal device for PoI-309's son.
  • Damaged breathing aperture for PoI-309's son.
  • Stacks of receipts outlining medical bills and letters written by PoI-309 to their wife (post-mortem).
  • 1 ornamental knife (severely warped).
  • 1 mortar and pestle.
  • 1 broken text-to-speech device. Notably, segments have been chopped off and grounded into plastic aerosols and stored in containers.
  • 1 refrigeration unit that possessed multiple containers filled with fluid. Containers at the front of the unit preserved PoI-309's testicles and tongue. The plastic packs further below consisted of deceased pet animals that had gone missing in the neighborhood before the incident.
  • A mistranslated manuscript with multiple errors in parsing Sanskrit to English.
  • Burnt copies of the Ars Goetica and the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum.
  • 3 homemade wax foundation sheets conventionally used to keep bees. Inspection revealed the remnants of RPC-309 larvae stuck in grooves.

Comparisons between PoI-309's sperm with organic samples of RPC-309 instances remain inconclusive. As of the writing of this document, routine checkups on amnesticized child subjects have noticed a trend of hyper-acute auditory hallucinations; with exception to buzzing sounds, indistinct voices were described by the subjects as they grew older.
