This isn't really a narrative as much as it is a sequence of acceptably plausible details. It's thankfully not completely banal, and does indeed earn the length it has.
The only parts that gave me any emotional impression were the visual effect ("ugh, that sounds unpleasant") and the ending. The discovery log is basically pointless besides attempting to solidify the A!Co. connection. (As a sidenote, having a footnote explaining the purpose of the collapsible that comes literally directly after is rather janky.)
The ending does come from a creative and somewhat funny perspective, showing how what would normally be a mystical object is just a "heavy useless hunk of junk" to someone who deals with them on the regular. It serves as something of a bookend to this unfocused piece, and is not a bad sendoff.
This wasn't that great, but it was thoroughly competent and had a few mild highlights. 3/5
P.S. As someone who gets migraines with visual disruptions, the secondary effect hit a little too close to home :(
