I'm half way tempted to give this a 5-star purely for the Dio reference.
Gave me the same feeling as when I listen to Mario 64’s Dire Dire Docks music track.

This article is super eerie, and I love it.
It's rather creative in its pacing, for better or worse, with the containment protocols taking up about half of the reading time and one of the biggest points of note coming in the last paragraph. It's certainly odd, but I think it serves the article well, or at least well enough. The writing shows clear skill, though I think the tone might be a little too floaty. (A lot of mentions to the Authority, starting the description with discovery info, etc.)
The thing I really like here is that this article manages to make me feel uncomfortable about good things happening. The generally unsettling tone coupled with the fact that attempting to lift it has caused bad things to happen makes me feel like this generosity comes with some kind of strings attached. At the very least, this thing is a force to be reckoned with, and I would not trust its good actions as a surefire sign of things to come.
What I'm saying is, this is good, and it got my brain moving. 5/5
The aesthetics of the article are the best part - but take that away and there is nothing much to it. There is no gradation in eeriness or other tones, there is no defining incidents or imaginative uses of the properties or parties interacting with the anomaly. The anomaly just is what it is, and although what it is is good, it is not enough to make it a greater read.
