Something that I think would be beneficial for the site is promoting articles on the front page, especially if they're good but rarely noticed by the community. The "Top Rated New Pages" page is a good feature for the site, but I think having something like that front-and-center when someone enters the site would be even better. Here's some things I mocked up:
Simple Text Preview:

This is completely functioning within wikidot code parameters. The format allows for a link to the RPC, it's number and title, as well as a short preview of the article itself.
This is NOT an automated system, a site admin (or someone with authorization) will have to manually change it. Finding an acceptably interesting excerpt from an article is probably too complex for an automated system anyway. Changing the articles in this section should probably be done every 2 or 3 weeks.

This is very similar to the above concept, except featuring thumbnail images alongside the text previews. Unfortunately, I'm not good enough at working with Wikidot syntax to make this functioning code, but maybe someone else could figure it out. This might not be a good addition though, because there are many articles without images on the site.
An alternative and simpler concept might be simply putting the "top rated new pages" table on the front page. It'd only take a slight edit to the main page to be done. However, I don't think simply putting a hyperlink featuring nothing but the article's number is a good way to get new readers interested in the article, which is why both of my mockups include some details from the text itself.
