This has a certain charm to it, but feels unfulfilling to read.
The spells are arbitrary, and only exist to say "its magic."
Lawrence, while I enjoyed his dialogue, suffers from the "goofy magic-caster" stereotype. Which makes both him and his actions feel uninspired.
The Authority acts strangely, as well. There's Gamma's point, but also how this interview (one of many) portrays them as dense without any thematic or narrative reasoning.
But the charm remains. 3/5
