Why flamethrowers and pistols? If it's transmitted through people, flamethrowers don't seem like a good choice.
The virus is destroyed through fire. It's meant as a way to destroy any potentially contaminated people before it can spread further.
This is really, really solid. It is a little bit vocal chord parasite-y, but I think it works regardless.
I think you need to repost this I think this one pissed off raiders the most.
I would personally give slightly more foreshadowing as to how 5R fucked everything up. Maybe an Archived Containment Protocol could help increase the "wow they really fucked this up" factor.

Very interesting concept with even more interesting implications (like the virus being probably artificial and constructed for a purpose we're unaware of). I would die to see a longer, more elaborate version of this article that explored these great aspects instead of the redundant test log and somewhat inconsequential incident. It feels like it just wants to be about mystery and foreboding implications but it doesn't go anywhere.
