first contest entry, hoping to review all of them… EUGH i hate the caribbean deep css SO MUCH IT HUUUUURTS EWWWWWW THE COLOR SCHEME EWWWWWW 🤢🤢🤢 not your fault tho…
Even the thought of returning there feels like kneeling in front of a decaying pig carcass to take one last bite out of it.
very weird metaphor? i understand you're writing from a historical perspective but this sees a little too much. like if it was shorter and less flowery itd be stronger but this seems kind of overboard.
Archiver
wouldnt archivist be better?
anyway, summary after reading the entirety. I don't like this article. It calls up a lot of lovecraftian and nihil imagery, but the more I look into it the more surface-level it seems. spooky stuff just seems to happen, and we're not really given much reason to try to understand what or why.
now the obvious response would be "well, you're not meant to understand" but if that's the case, why should I care? there's a blood-soaked sun hanging in a blood-white sky as the blood-stained earth flows with blood… and thats about it. there's a bunch of crossed-out text, it has contradictory sentences, the word "mortal" is thrown around, all the checkmarks for spookiness but with nothing behind it, and i cant help but gloss over it because so far very little that's introduced is brought up again.
stuff like the inquisitor's missing eye, the whole deal with the crew's stoicness, the zealot, the moon, these are all introduced but never really utilized. its unsatisfying, and it seems rushed.
if 1 star is unacceptable, and 3 stars is good, this is 2 stars- fair. decent and doesn't go beyond that.
