If the species truly is formless, it wouldn't have a "Base instance". Instead, try describing the anomaly as
GRP-026 is a polymorphic organism measuring only 0.75 meters. 99% of their nutrients appear to be collected from Photosynthesis.
I think it's best you avoid saying something like "GRP-026 has no 'true' form", but instead state its true form is unknown.
GRP-026 commonly takes the form of native fauna Poul c known as Aqua trunci. GRP-026's property inevitably allows it to usurp whatever apex predator currently inhabits any given ecosystem.
GRP-026 can be commonly seen imitating Galactic Ranger named Randal C. Sinclair, known commonly to his peers as "Cosmic Randy." Instances that do so are designated GRP-026-1. While many instances are indistinguishable from the original Galactic Ranger, many tend to display exaggerated features or lacking thereof.
Sinclair was reported missing while exploring the Poul System at Standard Galactic Time (STG) 394,200.
Make sure you explain where his body was found before including "The exact cause of death is unknown."
Individual instances are designated by number. So it wouldn't be called Randy #3, but GRP-026-1-3. Though this is kinda optional so you do you.
fix your footnote.
Can we wrap this up then? I'm behind on my planetary analysis reports.
Cut the crap you alien bastard; this little shared isn't fool any of us.
Hello, Doc. It's been a while since my last checkup. Found any brain parasites crawling around in my noggen yet?
Cool it doc, it's me, Randy.
What planet did you come from?
You're overworking those interns doc; they're losing it.
Thanks for the warning, Randy. But we can assure you, it's not Malthus related.
You're already aware of the situation, why haven't you been informed me? I think it's important to know about clones of myself running around pretending to be me.
Instances of GRP-026-1 are permitted to continue employment under the GRPC, however, they are forbidden from docking on Hollywood Station out of respect for Sinclair's family.
Overall, the anomaly is a pretty good depiction of your classic shapeshifting alien, though a lot more lighthearted than what you'd usually see.
Your article needs a bit of work in its structuring and flow.
They are rage, brutal, without mercy. But you. You will be worse.
Posting what I posted on discord when asked for crit.
The first thing I noticed was that containment wasn't at the top.
It's a minor nitpick, but usually containment is at the top to set expectations for the anomaly and sort of hype it up, which this containment block does rather well I'd say.
The other thing is there are a few grammar and formatting errors in the logs, specifically the first interview log.
Aside from that I like the concept, and what you have rn is good in my opinion. But it feels too short personally.
Granted, it doesn't need to be long, but it doesn't feel like the anomaly is as fleshed out as it could be.
Maybe you could expand on Sinclair a bit? He's not lacking per se but if you wanted to you could.
Maybe the anomalies could remember things wrong or fuck up in some way. Maybe the anomaly, upon learning that there are clones of it, could have an identity crisis of sorts?
IDK, just an idea. As it stands, the article is good as is. Short, but still good
