Jello. This is your bi-annual useful Proposal, brought to you by the crit Satan me. Recently, I've been looking, I've been asking questions around, I've been- Yeah, let's get down to it.

The Proposals Section of the forum is rarely used. And when used recently, it becomes a mess. Honestly, 10 fucking percent of it is just Laclale posting around RPC "contests"?

This is why I'd like to make two proposals regarding this section. They are available below on collapsible.

Proposal I

Deleting the Proposals Section of the Forum

A radical solution, yes. This is why I also have suggested several alternatives to it, such as:

• A Proposal google form, created and maintained by Staff. Opened permanently for suggestions, with answers arriving on a public google sheet. People would be able to debate the ideas submitted on a #suggestions chat, either on the main Discord or on RPC Office.
• Note: If no Google Form is created, the #suggestions chat shall serve as the main canal for submitting proposals.

Proposal II

Actively maintaining the Proposals section

Threads on this section goes all the way back to 2018. It has been, in my opinion, never properly curated. This is why the following suggestions should apply if preferred to Proposal I:

• Implementation of a "Suggestions Team" (not related to this proposal about the rewrite team), responsible for curating proposals, archiving old ones (staffposting their outcome) and creating a "Proposals Policy" defining what is eligible for proposal by community and what is not (eg the ban of a user is not to be proposed by the community).
• Suggestions Team members are to be given moderator permissions specifically for the purpose of moderating this section of the forum. They have standard staff powers over this section but no jurisdiction over the rest of the site except for the purpose of implementing approved proposals.
• Suggestions Team members shall be approved by the Administration team and may be reviewed periodically.
• Suggestions Team members shall be required to make a number of proposals, to be defined internally, and submit proposals for community vote each X months.
• Should the community approve a proposal, staff is to enact it unless 2/3rds of the Administration team vetoes.

This is, of course, a dynamic list that is up to revision with your ideas.

Proposal 1 is right out. We want to keep the site in all aspects accessible to members. People who prefer to use discord will use the existing chat.

Correct.
Making an entire team for a forum section that hasn't been seriously posted in for over a year though? Overkill my dude. Requiring people to make change suggestions and implement them seems like a good way to end up with unneeded changes. If way more people utilized this part of the forums maybe there would be noticable places to make changes. I do like the idea of replies to say what was done about the suggestion and why, so I'll try to do that when this forum gets another serious proposal.

The team doesn't need to be extensive. Two or three people, maybe only one even, is enough. Also as to the "required suggestions", that's not something mandatory, but something that could be implemented as a megathread, maybe something like "Staff's ideas" or something.

That way everyone can talk on any ideas, and like you said, we want to keep the site in all aspects accessible, and people who do not have access to the RPCO discord doesn't have access to give actually valuable insight on several staff decisions.

Good point, staff should be using this forum more for updating changes and decisions. I'll try to keep in mind making a periodic thread of the goings on.
