The Lay of Foundation, as composed by the Five-Eyed Father, of the Ancient of Ancients by the Black River from which worlds do wash over, and gods’ graves lie unhindered by all who wander for-ever:
The wheels turned and turned and the Angels shed their cloth.
Oh, where were you when they shattered that old Sun,
The shadows torn. the waters shorn. the world made to run…
Oh, where were we when they fought in those old wars,
Guns blazed, Eggs razed, the shadows gone in scores.
Oh, where were we when the Eyes were sung awake,
The Maker Fixed, the Maker chained, the Maker burned the Wake…
Oh, Oh, how they screamed, the nine spread all aur-orred,
The Worm killed, the Emp’ror scorned, Time was ill-adorned.
Oh, old dragon, why’d you have to mourn?
The world anew, the worms askew, the Udduk shelved to store…
Foundation
In the cosmos, in days of yore,
A tower washed up to the shore
From river’s womb, so black as night,
And with it came up beings of fright
Consciousness, the living bright.
Flame-brought gift, came down from high
A lantern lit, its spark to right
The Walkers walked up to its light
And gorged, and gorged, and gorged
In the cosmos, in days of yore,
Old pieces ripped, old faces torn
One eyes, two eyes, three eyes, four
Ouroboros, they tore and tore, and then — no more.
Law, the broken right.
A court was born, upon the shore
Ten laws price-paid, their clothes adorned
Of time, of Order, of passaged voyage,
ghosts, hatred, light, and joy,
And Emperor-beyond-all-sight, the pit his brother
They were supreme.
In the cosmos, in days of yore,
The shadows broke upon the shore.
Old Order looked on, beyond its court
And hatred filled its heart
War
The one of ghosts and worms and worlds
It was he that Order shot first, its death to toil
Order stole its loving sons
And took them, took them, made to run
The others too, the others too
Aeons past, a war entombed.
Millions of gods, rot in mud
Fossilised.
Wars were static, Black River roiled,
Time was stolen, its bones were broke
Order looked out, beyond the Court,
And saw a snake, its liver wrought
A thing of chaos, a law by none,
And so Order found the key,
From the bones of Time itself,
A snake was fettered, funneled, broken
Order and Chaos, intertwined,
An arrow forged from nothing
Fired, fired, fired
Nine worlds fell that day, one to rise
Order and Chaos, intertwined,
