I know there was recent talk of upping the standards for Groups of Interest, and I think given the volume of content pouring on to the site it might be time to give them a bump. I can’t speak for how tech team wants to distribute tags but in my mind the five articles by three authors standard is a bit too easy. You can rope together that many people in chat and have it done in a week.
Also, we’ve got a large variety of groups of interest, AEP, GEAR, Nucorp etc. but a lot of them don’t see much content posted for them. People put them together as group projects and they lose steam. So maybe after a year without a new piece we could put them into a reserve or archive status, as a collapsible on the GoI hub, putting them back if people write about them again.
Maybe we could also consolidate the GoI hub and the GoI format hub. I never really understood why they were separated it seems like one hub’s worth of content spread out over two pages. If you’re reading the GoI hub and want to read something from a particular group you have to navigate the tag page or know to go to the formats hub. Easy for us, not as much for someone who’s just found the site.
So tl;dr:
Let’s up the author/page part of the GoI formula to 50x100 or some other arbitrary formulation.
If a group isn’t used for a week we put it under a collapsible, (two weeks maybe take it off the hub?)
Consolidate GoI formats and Groups of Interest to one hub? It seems like they belong together.
This is all just things I’ve been thinking about and if enough of y’all feel the same or similarly we can put some or all of this up for a vote.
