Amnestics are states as being drugs that make people forget. That's literally the definition of "drug induced amnesia".
And I'll admit that requiring the drugs to be taken repeatedly is a bit too much, you could at least have it so that they supress memories rather than erasing them.
Supression, of course, means that the memories are still there, but the person is unable to access them.
Edit: just re-read the article and found that no, an amnestic that's effects are only tempory isn't impractical: they're in the document as special "tempory" amnestics. In fact, my concept is *more* practical than the canon T-class amnestics, as it would take the form of a pill, that could easily be added to a person's pharmecutical prescriptions.
