This article is very competent, I can give it that. It passes all of my superficial SPaG and tone standards. That sounds like faint praise, but there are a lot of articles I like that don't meet this requirement.
In any other sense, it's pretty mediocre. Though I do at least get a decently cohesive picture of how the anomaly works unlike, say, RPC-349, it still feels like a bunch of stacked attributes that I've seen before. RPC-026 did a collective consciousness among small organisms more effectively a year before, and a now-deleted version of RPC-397 made worms burrowing inside of people the focus of the article to better effect (though that's honestly a very stock concept anyway).
The remaining details don't do a whole lot for me. The way it attacks live prey was at least an interesting concept, I suppose. Meanwhile, the "memetic chemical" is an incredibly tired cliche that has no reason to be here and is more absurd than anything.
I think this article would be a lot better if I had a sense of the anomaly in action. I normally advise against having "cool logs" just for the sake of it, but without any kind of live interaction this entire concept feels muted. Imagine a group of agents fighting off a large horde of these things. That could actually have me hooked, unlike this stale description which does very little for me.
In conclusion, this article exists. 3/5
