I agree with Sin, a democracy is simply too easy to corrupt. A representative republic would be a much better option.

while I think Croals idea is good democratically elected mods isn't, for one this means that the most popular person vs the most qualified person can easily get into leadership and start killing the site. Another problem would be cliques or people trying to get there guys in and change the site, Imagine if decent size chunk of SCP came over and "Voted" theyd turn this site into SCP 2.0 or worst just kill it outta spite.

I believe that we have enough staff members for now, but I would support having some sort of community representatives in place. I very much agree that its very important to not allow us staff to become an echo chamber. If you guys haven't already, I would suggest joining the staff discord to give feedback
https://discord.gg/xpDv42A

This was discussed a few times in the past, the main issue being that it is difficult to do public votes for that kind of thing without risk of bots. It could work if done on the discord with the same format as previous votes, but bots are still a potential risk. I don't think it would be much of an issue though, as it is much harder to abuse that with the alt identifier bot. I would also support elected admins as well. I think that is more important than mods to be elected as they have much more control.

Maybe. But I don't know if we have a large enough community to ensure that someone is elected correctly and not due to bot votes.

As we all know, the SCP Mods aren't exactly the nicest or most competent of people. The site transformed into a writing community that would help you hone your writing skills in exchange for contributing to a cult of personality based around the mods. Though I think the apolitical stance we have is helping, I think I have something else that could help, too: Democratically elected mods.

The SCP mods are chosen only by other mods, which can be used to prevent those the mods have an issue with from getting into their ranks. This also creates an echo chamber, as the SCP mods mostly chose people that agreed with them. In order to prevent something like this from happening, I suggest that we have annual elections for moderation positions. Candidates would be chosen through a primary vote, and then would be elected to the staff by the people. This would prevent any sort of echo chamber effect from forming, and would also prevent another ideological takeover.

This is an idea I had. What do you lot think?
