All those forum characters are so very cringy in that way oldhead forum posters tend to be, it lends such an air of believability to this. Only thing I think was missing was some wild speculation, people are prone to do that, and the last few MEGA updates were the perfect place to throw some mix of good observations and red herrings. Samurai Tak in particular has such a "forum mod" aura to her lololol.

The mystery is excellently conveyed, and something I gotta praise here is how the focus of the article is inverted from how it usually is with the "internet people stumble onto anomaly" type of article — generally these just use forums as framing to better constrain and filter the amount of information given to the reader, but here the people in the forum are the point. This little corner of their hobbies just so happened to intersect with an unfathomable conspiracy and its scale absolutely drowns them. Good choice to err on the side of giving little info, not revealing what the fuck was being done there or how anyone could possibly benefit from it. Makes the melancholy of an old dead forum and all these peoples' fates all the more poignant.
