It's tonally a little off in places- you use lots of contractions- and the dialogue from the two knights just feels too… modern, I guess? You're clearly going for a mythic tone and trying to build a lot of backstory, but I think the style of writing you've adopted here holds it back.

I quite enjoyed being able to use fantasy elements more than sci-fi elements. It was a nice change of pace.
