This is interpretation of the engineer is kinda meh. There is little intrigue, little mystery. It's actually, in a way I can't really describe, substance-less. The anomaly itself is so bland in relation to what it is trying to represent, and that can be seen on how a good portion of this article focuses primarily on the Lupin's downfall.

Speaking of, the execution of that wasn't particularly great either. The captains log invoke minimal emotion, and are boring to read through. The conversion of the crew members was also too fast, giving the reader no time to care about them. It feels like every segment of that story was just the author going through the steps to the end, making the path to get there a slog.

I think it was okay, the plot was underwhelming and all of the CSS was very distracting, but there is a nice idea and it did a good job of introducing me to the Nihil flood idea.

This article misses the main point of the Engineer as an entity; it is not an anomalous space god, it's the builder of the universal paradigm. Everything works the way it does because the Engineer won its fight against the Nihil suns and established the laws of physics according to lore. Engie isn't supposed to be anomalous, rather the antithesis.

Think about it in a similar sense to the Christian interpretation of God: all that's good is godly, and all that isn't godly is evil by property of not being godly. All that's anomalous isn't work of the Engineer, and all that isn't anomalous is its work.

2020 edit: completely fucks up with the Engineer is supposed to be. The Engineer isn't some broken god knockoff, it's a yog-sothoth-like creature that exists only in-between universes. Multiple authors agree on this, and it is generally thought that this article is a blemish on established canon. +2

Yes I know that this is slightly lore breaking for the Children of Nihil, but at the time of writing none of that lore was easily available to me so I had to interpret what the Engineer was. As it was described as the thing that created the laws of reality this is what I imagined it as.

Update: I have now made it such that this article no longer breaks established lore for the children of nihil, while also fixing various other lore issues with this piece.
