This article is a pleasant read, though there are a few notes of mine.

First, why a T-34? If production occurred in the late 1980's into the 1990's, why would a medium tank from the 1940's be used? The chassis would be incredibly outdated and likely inadequate, as the photograph suggests the turret to be more than equal to the size of the chassis. A T-55 or T-62 would make far more sense given the time and requirements, but an M60 Patton frame or an M1 Abrams frame would also be valid candidates.

The article as a whole also needs further explanation, primarily in the form of footnotes. I do not know what the religious practices of the Nihil are, nor do I know how a tank would perform said practices.

Another, somewhat related note, how did the Nihil get the tank? There doesn't appear to be any note on the Authority selling them one.

The whole article is nice, but it is lacking. Three Stars.

I can't tell what story is told here?

Instead of focusing on the sapient, religious tank, the article is more concerned about some nihil confrontation where the main RPC is just a side character, not even that. What even is its connection to the pilot? Or was that just a randomly chosen member of the nihil pantheon?

The AHAFV 99 bit follows this trend. I get that it's a fire fighting tank. Why did you want me to know NuCorp made it? Or that it is based on a soviet design?

There are multiple plot points that yes, have a thread connecting them, but that thread is so artificial I can't extract any satisfaction from following it.

2/5

This is a pretty cool anomaly, but I would have liked to see RPC-164 in action against RPC-045-ARC through an MST combat log or something. I also would have liked for there to be an interview with RPC-164 asking it about Nihil or what it's objectives are. We're told it has an authoritative commanding voice, but it would have been great to reads it's interactions with the Authority and Nucorp. I notice the article doesn't cover why RPC-164 defected to the Authority. If it was imbued with a thaumaturgic consciousness from the CoN, why does it support the Authority? An interview log with the tank as it was being inspected by the Authority would have been a good narrative element to include.

[+] Spelling/Grammar Critique

[-] Close

However, investigation of RPC-164's interior suggests that its conscious is a poltergeist-type artificial thaumaturgic conscious.

"However, investigation of RPC-164's interior has revealed the presence of an ethereal, poltergeist-like artificial thaumaturgic conscious."

This type of thaumaturgic entity is known to be used by Children of Nihil for various tasks, specifically, it is used by the worshippers of The Pilot Sun for the purpose of creating automated weaponry.

"The Children of Nihil are known utilize this form of thaumaturgic entity to fulfill a variety of objectives, particularly for the devotees of The Pilot Sun, to create automated weapons."

firefighting foam as it has a seemingly unlimited supply of all three.

"firefighting foam, as it possesses an apparently inexhaustible supply of these resources."

The suspension has been upgraded such that the ride experience inside an AHAFV-99 is much better than in an unmodified Soviet T-34.

"The AHAFV-99 has been retrofitted with a more advanced suspension system, resulting in an enhanced ride experience compared to an unaltered Soviet T-34."

The engine used in AHAFV-99's is an 8 cylinder inline medium speed diesel engine, which makes the AHAFV-99 capable of achieving a maximum speed of 80km/h.

"The AHAFV-99 is equipped with an 8-cylinder, inline, medium-speed diesel engine, allowing a maximum speed of 80 km/h."

The turret of the AHAFV-99 uses two jet engines, that came out of Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 fighter jets, for the main cannons.

"The turret of the AHAFV-99 is equipped with two jet engines repurposed from Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 fighter jets, which are utilized to power the main cannons."

after which it dissipates.

"after which the concentrate dissipates."

there are only 5 AHAFV-99s left in service, all of which are used by MST Charlie-2 ("Fire Fighters") for the purpose of combating fire based anomalies.

"only five AHAFV-99 units remain in active service, all of which are employed by MST Charlie-2 ("Fire Fighters") to counter fire-based anomalies."

Yeah that Quora link does feel out-of-place. I would suggest removing it since it doesn't add anything to the article.

article a day day 1: RPC-164, authored by Chrome

a lot of ‘is to be’ and ‘are to be’ in the containment protocols, which i think is common among most articles at this point, but i can’t think of a good alternative for them
As for the nihil stuff, it seems kind of jarring to have it outright identified. it gives a very dull interpretation of CoN and it’s sort of telling that you could replace any mention of nihil with some other property (say, church of the broken god from SCP) and the story wouldn’t be severely affected.
I’m kind of surprised the sun it would worship is the pilot- considering moons are the heralds of a flood, and this thing outputs water… idk. The concept is cool, just executed poorly. That’s usually the case with chrome articles.

Also, this article straight up has a link to a quora page??? i’m not even joking look below the image it’s literally a link to quora?????

anyway, 1 star. if 2 is acceptable, then this is unacceptable. Hope it can be rewritten if it’s rating changes.

This is good stuff, Chrome, but it needs footnotes! You bring up all this lore stuff and then don't even elaborate on what it is. I'm not saying spell it out for us, but at least give those of us who don't follow Nihil lore religiously an idea of what's going on.

Why is this thing red if its turret is essentially a giant firehose, and doesn't harbor any ill will towards the foundation or humanity?

Why does the article on AHAFV-99 say that it was manufactured under an Authority contract, but none of the listed buyers are members of the Authority?

And why would Authority Employees terminate RPC-049-ARC instead of attempting to capture it, especially since it's abilities were already neutralized by RPC-164? It would make sense if GOI-008 killed her themselves, but having the authority do it makes no logical sense.

I'm rating this a 2 for now, as the format is appealing to look at, and I like the idea of an in-universe explanation for a deleted entry, but the actual content doesn't seem to pay off.

Haha, nice, cool guy. I think I might be missing some of the story here, since I've never heard of 045-ARC before and I don't know anything about GOI-008, but even if I'm not getting the full lore, the added files on this article still make for a good read. While these are both minor issues, I'd recommend attaching a "see addendum 164-1" on the first mention of an "AHAFV-99", as well as changing the threat rating of it. Either the water-foam it sprays isn't dangerous enough for a red rating, or it does deserve that rating in which case the Authority should/would not have sold any to unknown buyers.
