What about "Spontaneous Arachnid Combustion"?

Edit: The explosion spider idea could be interesting, but I think swapping out spiders (which have been used several times in multiple articles) for something like a bombadier beetle would be pretty neat.

I made this draft for my proposed RPC-634, and I'm looking for improvement. So criticize it to your heart's content. Also, I'm having a bit of trouble brainstorming a better name than "Spiders that make you Explode" because that name is kinda stupid.

Here's the RPC sandbox: http://rpcsandbox.wikidot.com/rpc-634

(I picked 634 because nobody is using it yet)

EDIT: I renamed the url to reflect the number

Also incorporate it with the previous paragraph.

Despite appearing to be man-made and covered with various kinds of incoherent warning tape

The top thirds and bottom thirds of RPC-XXX are braced with black circumferential clamps made of PA66-GF30 composite on its left and right side.

“The lateral segments of RPC-XXX’s top and bottom thirds are braced with black circumferential clamps made of PA66-GF30 composite.” Also this may still be too wordy consider drawing a visual and putting it in a footnote.

RPC-XXX-A, the affected

and

tissue having a "blurred" visual quality,

What. You mean the digital effect? If so, point that out, otherwise I don’t know what this means and you should reword it to being more clinical anyways.

Furthermore, the effect propagates through all connected cells of afflicted tissue and spreads throughout the entire body. Remarkably, the effect does not propagate into visceral tissue, or the blood of the exposed subject, the latter of which eventually begins to drain from the new space created by RPC-XXX-B.

Furthermore, the effect propagates to the rest of the body save for visceral and vascular tissue.
Actually rewrite this entire paragraph. It's too dense to be a single paragraph anyway. Make a collapsible or quote block or that details the process instead of going over it, makes it more engaging.

It is to be documented that RPC-XXX-B onset is highly psychosomatic. The mental state…

You can reduce this paragraph. Topic sentences should however be something like “The speed of the RPC-XXX transmutation process varies with the subject’s emotional state.”

Instances of RPC-XXX-C universally emit radio-frequency electromagnetic waves in the 300 GHz band in a manner that is physically impossible.

I can't give a narrative review of an unfinished article.

Generally speaking, you should reduce your sentences and cut back on the run-ons. Try to say more with less.

The paragraphs are too giant and feels unfocused due to both this and the run ons. I'd say have 1 to two things to say per paragraph to keep the article a precise read.

A footnote of the full name and brief description is nice.

Berlin, Germany.

Bit more on the location, please. East or west?

After the end of World War Two and the split of Germany

“After the rise of the Berlin Wall”

Each of these entities is located within one of the wards, which have been transmuted into memotic singularities in which the quanta intercept the oneiric frequencies of the subjects and transmutes them into physical matter, also known as meta-imaginariums.

This is a bit of jargon that isn’t given enough space to breathe. I’d suggest reformatting the sentence to elevate the imagineriums and reserve the explanation in a footnote, with a hyperlink.

Objects that originate from the imaginarium can be brought to reality if they are coherent with our plain of existence.

Very vague sentence for a clinical document. I’d suggest expanding on it, not only for immersion reasons, but that giving examples of gear that has been tested but isn’t able to be extracted works well as foreshadowing.

footnote 8, “The position of stars and planets within the constructed space is purely fictional and unrealistic. “

“The alignment of celestial bodies is idiosyncratic:”

any discernible limit

Clarify limitless space. And if limitless, how exit?

You think atom bomb deadliest weapon there is?

Couple of missing articles

To have an effective mystery article, you want the reader to be looking for the answers during the experience. They must be placed within the correct setting and presented with a coherent formulation of intriguing questions to want an answer for.

From this perspective, I identify 2 main lacking components:

The history needs more development. Not in terms of lore. Foreshadow the final conclusion. Present the general theme.

Sanderson’s intentions. This gives you the opportunity to align Sanderson with the reader. Use him as a vehicle for the rest of the article. Wit ha clear intent, it is easier to follow his line of questioning and the docs can instead be placed on the subject of the imaginarium itself.

With examples on how the agent’s material can change from imaginarium to another, it will also be clearer why the logs end up as they do.

Thematic cohesion: It is hardly identified. Find a central statement of idea and reference it through multiple perspectives; this will justify the clash of styles between the logs. This theme must be established early on however .

Not a big fan of how the reveal was handled. Feels like Peter Griffin showing up to explain the anomaly. Documents, diaries, footage, access to the fifth ward; there are many different ways to go about it in a more compelling way.

The symptoms of being exposed to the anomaly don’t really play into anything later. I’d suggest cutting the fat.

Funny, but I think you should stay true to the people you're satirizing, they do this to drive engagement.

Hazard Types: Trust me, you don't even wanna know.

You should get rid of stuff like "I'm sure you already know" because that read less like the people that the vagueposting king image makes fun of and more like the joke is that the guy is procrastinating. And get rid of the final note. You need to think like a true vagueposter: Your sentences must be both very intriguing/sensational AND utterly fucking vague and meaningless.

+Overall Crit

-Overall Crit

This is pretty good, not the greatest article I’ve ever read, but solid work. You’ve got some pretty strong stuff going and it being Sonic didn’t really bother me all that much. The angle you start playing up with things like obsession and getting too attached to fictional characters is very compelling. The biggest flaw I can find so far is the fact that the creator angle begins to get really interesting and ask a lot of questions, only for the article to cut short before it can get off the ground.

You’re cooking here, it just doesn’t go all the way with it. I can almost see someone’s slow descent into madness as they accrue more of a following, and get more invested into a single project. Investing more time and effort into the one thing that ‘works’ at the expense of other projects, then their life, then themselves. A tragedy of human nature, of compulsion, of infatuation. But that’s not present here, it’s just alluded to.

That allusion is quite strong, and it paints a very messy image. You could honestly keep the story as-is and I would accept that as a perfectly fine article. I would ask you to consider just elaborating a bit more on the process of mental degradation, with Allen acting as a sort of straight man. An outside observer looking into a world that increasingly doesn’t make sense. As Lenore continues to plunge deeper and deeper into this strangeness.

+Line By Line Crit

-Line By Line Crit

RPC-XXX is contained

Should be ‘is to be contained’. Containment protocols are instructions to be followed. So they should be in future tense.

5m x 5m x 5m low containment chamber

Should be 5m^3. There’s also the fact that the Authority has standard containment vaults. You could probably write something like ‘standard beta class containment vault’ and still get the point across without including specific measurements.

on Site-012

Should be ‘in Site-012’. Unless they put the computer on the roof for some reason. Which would be funny.

internet access is to remain heavily restricted.

Why give the anomaly internet access at all? That seems like a terrible idea for a multitude of reasons. It should be kept on an air-gapped network to prevent the risk of any anomalous activity from breaching containment.

20██

Why is this redacted? It doesn’t need to be. And by writing out the first two numbers of the year, I can then deduce it must have happened in the last 26 years. From there, I can see that Blender 1.60 is the program used. I can also see that the computer runs Windows 10. Combining these bits of information I can deduce that the date must be post-2015. That is when Windows 10 was released. From there, I can see that it’s extraordinarily difficult to get Blender 1.60 to work on modern machines. The first publicly available way to do so was released in 2020. You then go on to describe the exact timeline of Lenore noticing that he’s showing signs of sapience in mid 2025. So just with cursory knowledge of blender, I have taken this redacted date, and compressed the possible time span to 5 years maximum.

I go through these hoops to make the point of “Why are you censoring the date in the first place?” There is no point to it, it does not build up mystery, it does not serve the plot. It detracts from it. It is distracting, and the article would be better served by just saying the date to give a clearer view of the timeline of events.

The host device is a custom-built desktop personal computer operating Windows 10, and is equipped with an RTX 5090 with 32 GB of virtual memory, built with compute unified device architecture. This, along with other device specifications, has been presumably selected for the development of RPC-XXX.

The host device is a custom-built desktop personal computer operating Windows 10, and is equipped with an RTX 5090 built with compute unified device architecture. Remarkably, dxdiag.exe reports that the graphics processor possesses 129 GB of virtual memory, and performance monitors indicate that the device does indeed use the full volume. The highest commercially-available volume of virtual memory that NVIDIA produces for the RTX 5090 is 32 GB. Direct inspection of the graphics processor shows a present physical quantity of VRAM chips consistent with the 32GB model

You repeat almost an entire paragraph back to back here. You should absolutely delete one of these as it’s redundant, which is why you should delete one of these.

dxdiag.exe

You could have said diagnostic tools. Although the idea of the Authority using freeware tools on the internet is objectively hilarious.

bears no resemblance to any previously documented design within the Sonic® franchise

I know what you mean, but this is phrased completely wrong. The design is perfectly in line with what was used, and bears a striking resemblance. The model and topology is what was independently made, not the character design. You should reword this to be more clear.

Allen [DATA EXPUNGED]

Why is his name censored? Is his last name an infohazard? Obviously not, but it’s odd that the Authority would go out of its way to censor a name that has no bearing on anything related to this anomaly.

[Attached to the message is a photo of Lenore placing her hand against the screen displaying RPC-XXX.

You’re missing a closing bracket here. Also HANDS ON THE SCREEN EWWW.

+Final Thoughts

-Final Thoughts

Overall, the article is good. There are some parts about it that annoy me greatly, such as the unnecessary redactions, the fact that the image clips into the quote box, and the fact that it’s stated to be Blender 1.60 but clearly uses a modern Blender UI. Which does detract from the article, but not so much that I would call it bad. Ultimately, you have something solid here, and that’s commendable.

However, I wish you actually took the ideas you presented and brought them to its logical conclusions, really tie everything up nicely. Lenore made this dude to be a perfect being, yet abandons him. Why? There’s no actual conversation with the anomaly about his creator, or his relationship with Lenore. Did they like each other? Did they have a falling out? What does he think about being a created entity rather than being born? Where does Allen fit into all this? So many questions presented but the article doesn’t flesh it out. It feels like I just got done with the opening act only to be told the play’s over and I have to leave the theatre.

It almost annoys me how good the current iteration is because I don’t want to stand here and tell you to rework the entire thing. You have something solid here, but I can see that it can be so much better than it currently is. I encourage you to think about how you can expand this into something really awesome. Or you could not, and tell me to go fuck myself. It’s perfectly fine as-is and I wouldn’t blame you for just taking the dub while you got it.

Is that the right word?
- Come more clinical speak could be used here and there, maybe you can ask someone like DoubleDenial for help with it?
- Maybe you can throw in some more addendums? Looking deeper into the location itself would be pretty interesting.

I don't really have too many complaints, I'm sorry if this crit wasn't particularly good.

This article must answer many questions that it does not in such a fashion that it harms the quality of the article. When writing articles, using clinical tone should set you up to exhaustively explain and answer questions that allow you opportunities to write interesting facts that add intrigue to your article.

Moreover, dropping the clause about it being Sonic at the very first sentence is a missed opportunity to develop the mystique of the article and its anomaly before dropping the fact that it's meant to be Sonic as a surprise. Instead it's at the front and the article risks being instantly stereotyped at the first sentence.

Most important questions:

How does this AI inhabit the Blender scene? What does it mean for that to be the case?

What happens if you power off the device?

What is the file structure of the AI's code?

What is the architecture of the AI?

Do the specifications of the host computer allow the AI to be developed?

In which part of the Blender app does RPC-XXX inhabit?

Is it not necessary for the Blender process to have been running for years?

What are the exact limitations of its environment?

How does the RPC respond to attempts to screw with it?

What happens if you try to render or bake the scene?

I suspect you may not know exactly how to answer some of these questions and that's fine.
To show what I mean by moving the Sonic reveal to a later point, as well as to answer some of these questions for you, here's what I would write (feel free to take this or completely ignore it; it's your article. You must answer the first 7 questions though, imo):

RPC-XXX is a sapient and fully autonomous artificial intelligence process that has been continuously running in an opened instance of Blender 1.60 since 20██. The host device is a custom-built desktop personal computer operating Windows 10, and is equipped with an RTX 5090 with 32 GB of virtual memory, built with compute unified device architecture. This, along with other device specifications, has been presumably selected for the development of RPC-XXX.

RPC-XXX is written primarily in Python and is directly integrated into the Blender API, programmed in such a fashion that it cannot be compiled and executed outside of the context of a Blender scene via custom add-on import. It is for this reason that RPC-XXX is theorized to have been developed entirely within the Blender scripting interface. RPC-XXX makes use of a number of open-source artificial intelligence packages, as well as one large disorganized proprietary library named "tools-and.py" that spans 12487 lines of code, 35% of which is unused/antiquated.

Neither the RPC-XXX process nor its Blender runtime can be interrupted, whether by use of the graphical user interface or elevated console commands. It is not possible to power off the device containing RPC-XXX by any means. How the host device containing RPC-XXX is capable of maintaining consistent, indefinite battery life is, at this time, unknown. Permanent deletion of the file containing RPC-XXX has proven unsuccessful, as the host device inexplicably and invariably interdicts any and all user-initiated file deletion tasks. The same occurs for attempts to copy any files related to RPC-XXX. No system configuration nor present script on the host device has been identified to produce this behavior.

Remarkably, RPC-XXX specifically inhabits the Layout window of the Blender application. It does not inhabit a rendered artifact nor a process on the Blender Game Engine. For this reason, it is directly possible to transform RPC-XXX's character model and manipulate its topology, although attempts to do this have resulted in [DATA EXPUNGED]. RPC-XXX is capable of interacting with any additional non-anomalous objects in the Blender scene, and is capable of direct communication through production of synthesized speech channeled into the audio device. Behaviorally, RPC-XXX displays an upbeat, enthusiastic, and confident personality consistent with its authors intention to fully replicate the likeness and identity of SEGA character Sonic The Hedgehog.

The character model utilized by RPC-XXX bears no resemblance to any previously documented design within the Sonic® franchise and is presumed to have been created independently. Nonetheless, RPC-XXX is under the belief that it is in fact the SEGA character.

etc.

In this way, setting up the reader to realize it is Sonic after being given a chance to understand its periphery description/anomaly drives intrigue rather than wasting it at the start and coming across, in my opinion, as an amateurish attempt to write one's favorite character into the RPC canon. I know, that's not you. You write well, I'm saying it risks heavily coming across that way especially with how you worded it at the start. For the record, you say that the character model looks nothing like Sonic, but you also have Sonic as the picture in the article. I'm assuming you're going with the first and I think you should because I feel that including a picture of Sonic in the article again comes across in the character-insert-vibe that I described earlier.

Here are some other interesting bits I think would be fun to include or expand upon, feel free to use all or none (though some may contradict):

RPC-XXX responds with agitation and fear when its mesh topology is manipulated in any way using the Blender Layout window Edit mode.

RPC-XXX responds with agitation and hostility when its mesh topology is manipulated in any way using the Blender Layout window Edit mode, in such a manner that is not consistent with its historical behavior nor what is expected of the SEGA character it imitates.

RPC-XXX appears to be aware whenever a user attempts to initiate a write, copy, or deletion operation of any of its relevant files.

Direct inspection of the graphics processor shows a present physical quantity of VRAM chips consistent with the 32GB model.1

Though RPC-XXX is capable of interacting with objects within its Blender scene, the manner in which it does so is equally lifelike and inconsistent with both scene object interaction in the Blender runtime as well as the contents of RPC-XXX's program.

RPC-XXX displays sophisticated intelligence and reasoning that is uncharacteristic of the number of parameters its artificial intelligence model employs, consistently outperforms large-scale supercomputer artificial intelligence models on reasoning, and does not hallucinate information. One major caveat is that RPC-XXX's intellectual capabilities are limited in a manner consistent with that of the character it imitates. RPC-XXX has passed the Turing test.

As of 6/11/2026, RPC-XXX has been recorded as asking for its environment to change 423 times. RPC-XXX has been recorded as asking for the whereabouts of Ms. Lenore 1012 times.

It is not possible to view the contents of the program that compiles into RPC-XXX, save for its peripheral libraries.

It is not possible to view the contents of the program that compiles into RPC-XXX, nor its peripheral libraries.

RPC-XXX has claimed that it requires Ms. Lenore to stay "whole." The meaning and significance of this phrase has not been determined, as the RPC-XXX process and all of its peripheral libraries and assets have remained unchanged since its original launch date.

I hate to say it, but the Lenore logs read as cliched. This isn't an easy thing to do since "diary that gets progressively more unhinged" is hard to pull off since it's a very common trope. Since you're great at dialogue I think it would serve you well to turned these into a series of text messages with a concerned friend of Lenore's. That gives you a lot more freedom I think.

DO NOT WRITE AN INTERVIEW LOG FOR RPC-XXX.

Overall, This article needs a fair bit of development before it's ready to post. It is also not easy to pull off this kind of premise for the reasons I mentioned earlier. I'm looking forward to seeing what you make of it.

Footnotes

1. There are 16 VRAM chips specifically.
