I didn't find much of this written well, narratively nor in general. I still don't understand why eleven personnel were spared from this anomaly's influence, and I found the demon summoning shtick generic. I get aversion from black magic's evil, but attributing it two runaway shaman doesn't tell me much about it. Granted one did in RPC-318, but this says nothing more to their frankly one-dimensional goals.

I did like the addendum going about a transference of power to the Authority, how it's a duty that has long eclipsed their will and power. It made me feel sad. The images are good, too.

I used to daydream about Islamic heroics like this when I was a kid, so it hits a soft spot for me. I will say that otherwise I would not have understood nor liked the article as much. Not sure if this says more about the article or me, eitherway I still think it's lacking in the apparition's character and its historical connection to the village beyond its martyrdom.

I'm sorry but this has to be the tamest, most basic allegory to end this with. It does nothing for me for that reason :(
Alright I'll admit my attention was divided when I read this article, because this line

To avoid the risk of neutralization, the text was gathered from an X-ray imaging of the object as opposed to unfolding it.

completed the picture this article is trying to convey, and it is sweet as it sad.

I like this, you get 4 stars, and well deserved. The writing is great, I'm very fond of Jackson's descent driven by obsession and compulsition (although, you'd think researchers would know better than to experiment on anomalies by themselves).

Why 4 stars?

Why 4 stars? I liked this story, but I felt that something was missing:

Its a well-paced article, but I think there's some leftover room to add ''just a little more''.

The Discovery log doesn't add much to the article. Hermann Zapruder? Big mystery man, but nothing really happens. The Authority don't even bother to investigate who this guy is, instead they just jump right into experimentation.

The ending e-mail lacks any resolution, will we see more of Jackson in the future? What kind of psychiatric ward did they send her to? It feels more like a ''to be continued…'' rather than a fully developed ''The End''.

I do have a small observation. I know this is more of an unintentional detail, but you did mention this anomaly came to you in a dream.

Its a personal interpretation

Its a personal interpretation, but I'm sharing it nonetheless:

>100 anomaly report copies often containing incorrect and unrelated information manifesting on the desks of researchers unaffiliated with the source documentation.

Unintelligible writing manifesting on the interior of Site-044.

If Jackson's eyes work as a proyector, then it looks like Wernicke's and Broca's area are actively being affected during the projections (either by the anomaly itself, or Jackson's poor mental state by this point on the story). It so happens that these two areas in the brain are mainly inactive or dormant during REM-sleep, which is why speech and language is incoherent while dreaming. So, make of that what you will, but I'd love the psychological implications of a mind-controlling/mind-altering anomaly.

This doesn't have anything going for it the entire read through. The concept is basic and its effects one note. The addenda pad out what's already in the description with nothing appealing to justify their inclusion. It doesn't help that the writing's quality is poor. Needed one or two critiques, which I assume wasn't the case given its post date.

While this may not be written, it's made even eerier imagining echoing tormented wails they must endure within each other.

I like the theme of forbidden knowledge here a lot, and it can be surmised the redactions work in tandem with it. Even then, I still find the redaction a lazy (and admittedly clever) way to avoid completing that part properly.

Props for making me check the image's ratio if it matches 8.5 x 11, which in fact it does NOT.
It tells a story of loss and concisely so. Caretaker of the anomalous is not something I've read before but I suspect with how simple this idea is that it's not new, but I like it regardless of that prospect.

I will say that the letter could have used more effective prose to further sell its emotional tone. And I can't help but feel slightly disappointed it didn't cover more grounds for imparting memory loss grief, as I have seen this serve that exact message far more effectively for it.

Nevertheless I was moved.

A good story in a senselessly railroaded reading experience. The description is far too short. "Based on the thoughts of the user" could mean many different things, and the article relies on showing me later instead of making sense from the outset. "All attempts to disassemble RPC-461 have been met with failure" means nothing concrete. Lost your screwdriver?

While some of the testing log notes provide valuable information, others just proclaim how to interpret what happened. Jackson talks too much. The tests are overzealous with crosslinks that aren't here for any lucid reason; banal media would induce thought just as well without the perils of using classified material, and though at first I was curious as to how — say — RPC-506 would be used, it turns out it wasn't and any other subject would've been functionally identical.

a disinformation campaign was created to dismiss the event as mass hysteria

For mass hysteria this event just doesn't fit the bill. Maybe it's enough excuse to shut someone up, but you could do a lot better if you want to be sly.

The incident log that's supposed to set tension doesn't conclude its own ideas. To all bullets but the second I have to ask: "what does that mean, and what happened with it?" Do we just have two Dr. [REDACTED]s going about their business now? "Writing manifesting on the interior of Site-044" where and how? Did they have to clean it off the walls? And what on earth is "a non-anomalous version of RPC-042"? All I get is, "incident disoriented personnel and disrupted general site operation," which didn't need to be said.

Conceptually it's pretty solid, as is the writing. The interviews are my favorite part even if the characters are unfortunately same-voiced. I found it about as enjoyable to read as the other indestructible anomalous camera, which perhaps had the opposite problem of being too slow and dense for its own good. "Hermann Zapruder's Mystery Camera" is a mediocre title though.

+ Nitpicks

- Nitpicks

Named after the English photography pioneer Thomas Wedgwood.

A note spent explaining your own nomenclature is a note wasted.

Three (3)

Don't do this. But if you really want to, you forgot to an instance in the "details" section of the first experiment.

I was taking photos over the course of the whole day, only breaking for lunch. I kept Dr. Yang with me so that I wouldn't get enthralled by RPC-461.

I don't know how much more "enthralled" you can get than that.

Local newspapers attested that the museum's curator, Gerald Wright, suffered from an "inexplicable flashing condition."

I have that, but mine just got me barred from entering school zones.

After a few days of involuntarily "flashing" my higher-ups

Diddy shit
