The following represents a log of the exploration efforts of Site-381 by members of AST-501.
On ██/██/████, at ██:██ (███), members of AST-501 were cleared to proceed with full-scale exploration of Site-381, with AST-500 providing local support from a forward operating position within the site entrance. A 6-man team consisting of urban combat specialists from AST-501 were selected due to the nature of the site.
As local law enforcement agents had previously entered the facility, the layout of the main entrance was already known. AST-501 was chosen to conduct exploration efforts, with AST-500 maintaining a forward operating area just inside the facility main entrance1 in order to provide operational support.
Once the exterior of the facility had been secured and all non-Authority personnel had been suitably amnesticised, AST-500 and AST-501 entered the site. Access deeper within the facility is blocked by a series of turnstiles and ticket booths. A number of areas marked 'staff only' are blocked by locked doors.
AST-500 set up a forward operating base in this area, as AST-501 prepared itself for entry deeper into the facility. After checking their equipment, they signaled their readiness to AST-500. AST-500 obtained radio confirmation from Authority command. After getting the all-clear, AST-500 gave AST-501 the go ahead to enter the facility.2
The members of AST-501 were able to easily get over the turnstiles with the area on the other side leading to a large, solid gate. The lock had visibly been destroyed.3
The gate led to a large corridor with a door at the far end marked 'Mosasaurus Exhibit', and with the corridor branching off to the left and to the right on either side. AST-501 members entered through the door into the Mosasaurus enclosure area. The room on the other side is partitioned, with a large wall of reinforced concrete with a section of reinforced glass separating one side from another containing a large volume of water (estimated to be around 100,000 cubic metres) containing an animate instance of RPC-381-Z4.
So far, details matched exploration reports provided by local law enforcement. RPC-381-Z appeared to swim through the water despite lacking any apparent means of propelling itself naturally. AST-501 were advised over comms to maintain an appropriate distance to avoid triggering any potential hostile behaviours. In front of the concrete wall, various warning barriers advising would-be viewers to maintain safe distance could be seen.
Non-functional CCTV cameras are in corners at either end of the viewing room. After documenting the room, AST-501 members leave and begin mapping out the rest of the facility, heading anticlockwise. The next room they come to is marked 'Velociraptor Exhibit'.
Inside the room is a large enclosure built into the ground thereby constituting a large pit approximately 10m deep, with a containment area of approximately 5,000 square metres, and thus a total volume space of 50,000 cubic metres. The construction consists of reinforced concrete with titanium reinforced tungsten bars evenly spaced across the space at the top. The area is fenced off with electric fences and appropriate warning signs.
AST-501 members recorded 9 separate instances, since designated RPC-O. One member audibly voiced disappointment that they are much smaller than their movie counterparts in the Jurassic Park series.5 The team leader reprimanded the team member, and the team continued its exploration.
Whilst not noticed by members of AST-501, analysis of the footage revealed a number of indentations on the side of the pit containing the instances of RCP-381-O, with claw marks at the edges of the protective bars over the pit, implying escape attempts.
<Log Truncated for Brevity>
AST-501 members arrived at a section marked 'STAFF ONLY' with the words 'VETERINARIAN CENTER' in large, bold letters above. The door here appeared to be reinforced, requiring the use of C4 to clear. It is worth noting that this was the only location in the entire site with a reinforced door.
After breaching the door, members of AST-501 enter and discovered what appeared to be a medical lab. Whilst it appeared to have long since been cleared out, a number of large pieces of medical equipment covered in dust lay around the initial room. Exploration of this area results in discovering fragments of documents that had survived attempts at destruction.
One of the side rooms contained jars of preserved dinosaurs in various stages of embryonic development. It is worth noting that most of these possessed tissues appropriate to their respective levels of development. Also discovered were fragments that were later identified as broken fragments of various dinosaur fossils mixed with bone fragments of human spine.
Over the recording, a distinct sound can be heard that can be best characterised as slow, heavy, laboured breathing. AST-501 members are asked to confirm if the sound can be heard their side, and the team leader confirms in the affirmative. AST-501 are asked to investigate the source of the sound.
As members approach the source of the sound, one member visibly vomits, with other members' expressions implying a foul odour. They arrive at a closet in the corner of the room with the sound clearly emanating from it. Upon opening the closet door, the flashlight reveals a creature that is approximately the size of an adult emperor penguin (between 1.0668 and 1.2954 metres).
The creature appears somewhat humanoid but of proportions unlike of any observed phenomenon. One of the team members commented that it looked like "vomit with teeth". It had small appendages somewhat approximating limbs where it arms and legs would belong, but incredibly deformed.
Upon discovery, the creature lets out a scream that sounded like a combination of multiple individuals mixed with the sound of a pig, but at an abnormal pitch. Before command can instruct members to sedate it, the creature launched itself at the near team member and begins to attack. AST-501 respond by fatally injuring the creature.
Post-incident autopsy reveals it to have a combination of human DNA and DNA matching partial sequences of dinosaur DNA. AST-501 are instructed to collect the creature and bring it back for study, and the exploration is temporarily halted at this time, with the team returning so that the injured member can return for medical treatment, and to return the specimen.
