RPC-428 - Flight of the Umbrella Salesmen

My first article. I think it's a bit awkward, personally. But people seem to like it, and I'm not one to fuck with something I know works just fine. I started with the title and an image of a bunch of people limply ascending to the skies before vanishing. Once I had that, I worked backwards to write the rest of the article. It's a bit of an absurd premise, but you can make a silly premise work as long as the article still takes itself seriously.

RPC-555 - Open Wound

This is currently my favorite of my works, and I doubt that will change anytime soon. I wrote this as sort of a beginner article, something easy you'd read when you're first dipping your toes in the realm of containment fiction. It doesn't lean on the larger lore, you can just pick it up and read it, and the horror comes more from the fact that this cave exists at all as opposed to anything deeper. Not that there isn't something larger going on, just that the article is only as deep as the reader is willing to dig. I have no idea if this is actually a good introductory article by the way, I'm just assuming.
Something else: unless you count the Discovery (which I don't) this article has no addenda.

RPC-076 - Mechanically Inclined Crabs

This is my least ambitious article. It's one of many answers to the question of what could exist if the rules of nature weren't so strict, a question which I intend to return to at a later date. The crabs do what they do because they are freaks of nature. You could say that this article lacks oomph, and I wouldn't disagree with you. But they're crabs, they do weird things, and if you ask me, that's all that needs to be said.

RPC-604 - Speed Demon

I started out wanting to write about an anomaly that hadn't been contained yet, and what documentation about it might look like. The containment procedures are more like retrieval procedures, the hazards are only possible hazards, and the description is all sort of informal. I was going to use a division tone for this, but none of them worked for what I wanted to do. The RPC-604 you see is something that would be passed back and forth within Administration.
So okay, you've got this monster prowling the roadways at night, it's a classic horror movie/creepypasta set up. But then midway through the article there's a sudden shift in tone. It all becomes very casual, very cut-and-dry. Almost irreverant, and that's because it is. The article doesn't dwell on it too much because the Authority doesn't dwell on it too much. This is all fairly routine for them. The interviewee is more concerned about the future of his career than the fact that the anomaly he just killed is really a human child.
