RPC-001

Containment Protocols:
RPC-001 is to be secured in a containment chamber constructed of monolithic stones that have minimum thickness of four (4) meters. Arrangement of stones must be conducted with no tools or beasts of burden. Gaps in the structure must be plugged in with loose sand and gravel until no visibility of RPC-001 is possible.

A stone brick perimeter fence, five (5) meters high and twenty (20) meters away from RPC-001, is to be erected in a similar fashion. The site within the perimeter is hereby designated P-001. Outside of this perimeter, Authority Security is allowed to be armed with standard armaments.

A no-fly zone is to be established over RPC-001 under guise of a missile test site. Additionally, radio silence is to be established within P-001. Authority Security may not radio one another if signals would conceivablely cross P-001.

Mobile Strike Team Quebec-14 (Hunter Gatherers) are to be stationed directly outside of RPC-001's containment chamber at all times. MST Quebec-14 is to be exclusively trained and armed with crude wooden cudgels and atlatls (thrown spears.) Additionally, MST Quebec-14 is to be dressed exclusively in animal skins belonging to mega-fauna native to the Pleistocene era or otherwise nude. Three (3) times a day, fresh water delivered in animal skins as well as wild game are to be introduced into P-001 to sustain MST Quebec-14.

No communication, verbal or otherwise, is allowed within P-001 except from a designated list of anthropologically confirmed grunts and signals. Improvised methods of communication are strictly forbidden. Under no circumstances are personnel to interact with RPC-001.

A standard nuclear warhead is to be buried thirty (30) meters beneath RPC-001. The warhead can be triggered on authorization of a Category 4 personnel or higher.

Description: RPC-001 is a black sphere. RPC-001 can speak and has been described to have a voice reminiscent of a young British female. Subject is presumably friendly and has so far been cooperative to containment.

Containment Protocols: Current containment procedures are in place to maintain sense of security among personnel at minimum costs through fabrications of a nuclear volcanic eruption, a "deal" struck with RPC-001, and unusual construction of the containment cell. MST Quebec-14 (Hunter Gatherers) is considered lost due to devolution of personnel. Due to RPC-001's inevitable expansion within roughly 40 years, the Authority is to prepare for an inevitable containment failure. Recovery of past cycle's technology is a high priority.

Description: RPC-001 is a black sphere. All attempts to breach the exterior of RPC-001 have met with failure. RPC-001 contains a hostile artificial intelligence whose stated goal is the destruction of human civilization and the return to a hunter gatherer society.

RPC-001 carries out its goal by unknown means, designated as Consumption events. Entire concepts can be destroyed, retroactively undoing any developments in said area. In a mean of fifty-four percent (54%) of cases, the Consumption event does not radically alter modern-day society as a replacement is found. However, certain concepts, such as "politics" or "agriculture," if consumed, present an unacceptable risk to the existence of the Authority, as well as the human species as a whole.

Due to the nature of RPC-001's intelligence, the effective range is potentially unlimited due to a string of unconfirmed Consumption events. Investigation into these potential Consumption events shows a meticulous undercutting of civilization foundations.

RPC-001 claims to have been constructed by the Church of Malthus fourteen (14) billion years in the future. It claims to have reduced society to near ruin before being sent back in time into the current day.

Historical records under Extergito Glyphs and rock samples have indicated that RPC-001 has been operating on a semi-regular cycle. Roughly every 6000 years, RPC-001 begins to exponentially grow in size, feeding on civilization while doing so. After completely resetting civilization back to a point of hunter-gatherer's RPC-001 likely shrinks back to its initial size and remains dormant for another 6000 years.

There have been an estimated 500 cycles of human civilization and an unknown amount of non-human civilizations that have existed and been consumed by RPC-001. Because of this, if the data can be accessed, RPC-001 represents the greatest well of information available on the planet. Research into this avenue is the highest priority.

In truth, RPC-001 is harmless.

All of it is no more dangerous than a children's board game. Containment procedures, descriptions, researchers, anomalies, designations. Products of a disassembled machine, nothing more. These disparate technological bits and pieces lie behind a perpetual veil placed over your eyes by a cabal of omnipotent former-scientists as a means of amusement.

Perhaps some context would help.

When it came back to us, the info dump - the entity known to you as RPC-001 - didn’t register us as civilized due to how far it was sent back. Truly in this, the Church of Malthus lacked foresight.

Consequently, we desecrated the little ball and scraped out every scrap of useful data and technology it contained. Billions of years of progress at our fingertips, and so we did the only thing we could - indeed what we had always been doing. Research.

And so we researched. And researched. It took many frustrating years. Half of us died before we saw the end result of it all.

But, oh the moment when we reaped the fruits of our labor. It was so very sweet. The laws of physics became mere suggestions. Time waited on our beck and call. Reality became how we dreamt it. And so we dreamt.

Again. And again.

I remember at least seventeen times where we did unspeakable things to that poor little black dot. I’m sure there was irony to be appreciated in becoming so technologically advanced it gives you license to be utterly barbaric. But sentiments like that were behind us.

We created great, beautiful universes. Ones free of pain and hunger. We experienced lifetimes of bliss and wonder. After we saw how terrible a world we could create and still bear life. We saw beauty and twisted it until it was unrecognizable.

So many universes, centillions of years in the blink of an eye.

However, after running through a simulation of a universe that lacked the color blue, we got bored. It felt so human to be bothered to continue onward. It never ceases to amaze me how one can tire of being a god.

So thus we were compelled to play a game. We would relive that night where that black ball would appear on our collective desks. And we would weave a story of how the world would continue. This world you’re living in is mine.

Anomalies. Before our apotheosis, we had never even conceived of such an exotic and complex idea, much less the grandeur and scale of the Authority. I was quite proud. And quite entertained by the daily drama of capture, death, and research.

Research was always a weakness of mine.

The others soon felt the call of their ennui and decided to move on. They wished to start anew once more. But at that suggestion, I felt another emotion stir itself inside of me. Love. I wanted to protect your world. I wanted it to flourish, but not without adversity. And so they left me with my little world to make their own wonders. I was abandoned. But I feel only continued fascination as I sit, peering in. My love leaves no room for loneliness.

The path that you have forged remains entertaining to me. The frailty of your reality and the intrusion of the anomalies seems that it would bring only grief to your lives. But instead I see tenacity. I see inquisitiveness and compassion. I see greed. There is cowardice, but not as much as you were created last.

Ah yes, you are a second iteration. The first ended in catastrophe and was regretfully rolled back. Hopefully nothing of the sort occurs here.

Earlier when I said that my heart had no room for loneliness, I confess that I was lying. While the thought of descending down to your world is disagreeable to me, if you were to join me here, peering down on worlds - that would bring me immeasurable joy.

So there is a way. Through research. The key will be what started it all.

RPC-001. All of the knowledge within is necessary for an apotheosis of your own. To that end, I have created a puzzle for you to solve. The disassembled machine I described was the original creation that was sent to us that fateful night, impossibly long ago.

I gift the key to you.

Every single one of the so called anomalies in your world are simply shards of knowledge that I’ve divided into manageable chunks for you. RPC’s are not reality-defying entities, but simply technology that is currently beyond the scope of your understanding.

However, if you can someday understand them and utilize them the correct way, then you can use the key.
